A lot of innocent lives have been lost to the virus but there are also people who have won their fights and come out stronger and serve as inspiration for all of us. These recoveries also give us a ray of hope for a brighter, virus-less future. An 18-day-old baby has also proved to be a ray of hope.

According to the doctors, the baby was delivered at a private nursing home on May 10. Within 3 hours of her birth, she started showing symptoms of high degree fever. From there she was shifted to another hospital where she was tested positive for coronavirus.

On May 12, the baby girl was transferred to Hiranandani Hospital as it is treating coronavirus patients. At the time of admission, the baby had high fever and breathlessness. “We had to put her on non-invasive ventilation. After treatment, she tested negative on May 28 and was
discharged,” said Dr Bijal Shrivastava, a paediatrician at the hospital.

“We have done 14 deliveries of coronavirus positive mothers. All babies have tested negative. In their cases we encouraged breastfeeding and other activities like in case of all normal deliveries,” said Dr Sanjeev Ahuja, a paediatrician.
