Big increase in Chinese infringements most of them on the Indian side of LAC

As the tension continues to rise high in eastern Ladakh, the data by the officials show the increment in the Chinese Transgression number on the line of actual control as the first four months witnessed 170 Chinese transgressions across the LAC with 130 in Ladakh.

As compared to last years data there were only 110 transgressions last year in 2019 during the same period.

In the year 2019 when PM Narendra Modi and the Chinese president Xi Jinping met at Bishkek at Mahabalipuram, there was a surge of 75% in Chinese transgressions in Ladakh stating 497 against 284 in Ladakh in 2018.

Nearly three-quarters of the transgression in the western region of Line of Actual Control have been taking place as compared to the data of 2015 and the eastern sector that falls in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed one-fifth of the Chinese violations including the highest number of aerial violation by China also took place in the year 2019 according to the official data statin 108 instances with 78 in 2018 and 47 in the year of 2017.

The majority of the aerial transgressions took place in the eastern sector as compared to the ground transgression 64 out of 108 in 2019 and 47 of 78 in 2018.

The year 2019 has 663 recorded transgressions up from 404 in 2018 including a 75% spike in the western sector and 55% spike in the eastern sector.

The officials have stated that one such transgression was recorded at the Indian border where the Chinese army has crossed the border to the Indian side of LAC saying either the army or ITBP are “reasonably certain”.

A Chinese violation be it on air land or waters of Pangong Tso has been recorded if visually observed through the use of surveillance equipment by the border posts by the Patrols, indicated by the locals or the pieces of evidence left in the form of wrappers and empty
packets showing their presence in an unmanned area.

When the two leaders of the two countries met again in Wuhan in April 2018, they issued strategic guidance to their respective militaries to strengthen their communication in order to build trust and mutual understanding thus increasing predictability and effectiveness in the management of border affairs.

They also directed their militaries to fully and with all dedication, implement the measures that will help in building confidence that has been
agreed by the two leaders and their respective countries they should also look forward to the mutual and nonpartial security and to improve the information sharing mediums and institutions to prevent any type of incidents at the regions of borders.

Officials have been saying that the transgressions might have occurred as depending upon their respective perceptions of the LAC, the militaries patrol the areas but also there was an agreement between the officials that the high rise of the Chinese military to be seen and the pieces of evidence being found show that they have been coming on the Indian side more often.
