Centre asks private nad government banks to distribute 500 rupees to over 200 million Jan Dhan account holder women

The poor wone holders of the Jan Dhan account are being helped by rs 500 in their
account as a part of relief package to 4 crore women on Friday.
The rural development ministry said that 20.9 crores of such poor women will be given
the amount as a relief to the lockdown by the first week of April. Under the
the announcement made by Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan yojna in the view of ongoing
lockdown all over the country, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that an ex-
gratia payment of 500 rs will be made in the account of poor women continuing for
the next three months beginning from April.

“The rural development ministry is releasing the lump sum amount of 500 per women
to Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana account holders from April 2020. the same of
the relief has been credited to the designated accounts of other banks on April 2” the
ministry said in a statement.

The officials said that the amount has already been credited to over 4.7 crore women
holding the Pradhan Matri Jan Dhan yojana account. To maintain the protocol of
social distancing and withdrawal of money by the beneficiaries the ministry stated
that the government has prepared the schedule of payment withdrawal from he
respective banks on the basis of the last digits shown in the updates of the account.
It was further stated that all these account holders are also eligible for monthly
pension and other beneficiaries made for the poor
