Covid Lockdown Impact: Films shooting to move from metro cities to green zones

Today, the whole world is grappling with the covid-19 pandemic. There will be hardly any country that is not impacted by this. The Indian entertainment industry is also hardly hit by it.

Home of these entertainment industries, Mumbai and Delhi are planning to shift their production units to orange and green zones categorized by the government as per the severity of covid. Since these two metro cities are majorly affected in the country with 20000 and 8000, respectively, filmmakers decided not to gather units in both cities for at least two months

“Given the spread of the virus in major cities, it is inevitable that we would have to shift locations,” said Siddhartha An and Kumar, Vice-President, Films and Television, Saregama India. He added that it is not possible to wait for completely open these locations as they have already lost much time.

Saragama’s movie unit Yodlee films had planned for two films in Mumbai and Delhi but in the light of the current situation, they are planning to move their unit Latur, Manesar and other places of Haryana in order to keep their unit safe. If it works well, they will start filming interior scenes in July in these locations and might come to Mumbai and Delhi for exterior shots if the situation improves.

One of the leading entertainment company, ZEE5 has also added that the company has started to utilize a lockdown period to search for options that could be possible and not.

Both Yodlee and ZEE5 are also seeking to shoot in containment areas like resorts and garden of green zones.
