Delhi’s CM Arvind Kejriwal says ‘If social distancing is not followed outside a shop, Government will seal the shop’

The opening of liquor shops has not proven to be a success to the Delhi government till now. Even orders for Delhi government were to tighten the crowd on wine shops as it is getting out of hand.

On Monday, Arvind Kejriwal conveyed the message of social distancing norms to the public in Delhi. He stated if people don’t cooperate and keep breaking the norms of social distancing, the areas and shops would be sealed or “locked down” wherever such cases are reported. The liquor shops got functional in orange and green zones of Delhi.
Even in such chaos, the liquor shops of East Delhi had to be shut in just a few hours due to the crowd burst.

“It was unfortunate that chaos was seen at some shops today in Delhi…If we come to know about violations of social distancing and other norms from any area, then we will have to seal the area and revoke the relaxations there,” Kejriwal said.

One by one, there were ultimatums coming to Kejriwal for opening liquor shops and creating a mess amidst the pandemic already reaching stage 3. He cleared his point in his video that opening shops and giving relaxations to the orange and green zone were the orders from the Central government.

He said, “shop owners will have to take the responsibility, if the norms of social distancing are violated outside a shop then the shop will be shut.” Therefore, taking all the responsibilities to themselves.

Giving the example of how Delhi defeated dengue 5 years back, the CM said “people of Delhi have defeated dengue. 5 years back, there were 16,000 cases, over 60 died. Last year, there were 1,500 cases and not a single death. If we take the necessary precautions and follow the guidelines, we can defeat corona as well.”
