Delhi Police raids Tablighi Jamaat leader Maulana Saad’s farmhouse in Shamli

The farmhouse of Tablighi Jamaat leader Maulana Saad Kandhavli at Shamli District of Uttar Pradesh, was raided by Delhi Police Crime Branch yesterday morning (after having traced a lead from details of a government bank account) in order to recover the documents relating to the identity of the people who attended the event at Nizamuddin. Pen drives and documents have been recovered and sent for forensic investigation. The police has tracked down 2100 people as of now. The officials spoke to 3-4 caretakers at the farmhouse and thereafter left for Saad’s ancestral home.

A case at Nizamuddin Station had been filed under IPC Section 304(culpable homicide not amounting to murder), against him for holding a congregation between 11 and 13 March at Alami Markaz Banglewali Masjid at Nizamuddin which was declared as a Covid19 hotspot. A large number of people including foreigners travelled to, from around the country amidst the nationwide lockdown. According to an audio message that he released, he is currently under self-quarantine at home and has urged his followers to offer their prayers at home during this holy month of Ramadan. He has avoiding to be questioned by the authorities and has to be medically examined as well.
