Gear up for the return of Rin Okumura and the gang in Blue Exorcist Season 3: Shimane Illuminati Saga, premiering on January 7th, 2024. This season digs into the undiscovered region of Kazue Kato’s original manga Volumes 10 through 15.
Rin and his True Cross Academy colleagues are sent to investigate a series of bizarre happenings in the isolated Shimane Prefecture. They come upon the enigmatic Illuminati group, who are said to contain prohibited information and to have their purpose. Rin and his allies encounter dangerous new opponents and unearth revelations that might shatter the very structure of the exorcist world as they unveil the mysteries of the Illuminati and the intriguing powers at work.
The voice cast remains largely unchanged, with Ao Hiiragi returning as Rin Okumura and Nobuhiko Okamoto bringing the fiery Yukio Okumura to life. However, Studio VOLN takes over animation duties, promising a fresh visual style for the new season. Fans can also expect exciting new additions to the cast, including Tomokazu Seki, Nobuyuki Hiyama, and Koki Uchiyama.
Daisuke Yoshida steps up as director for Season 3, bringing his experience from anime like “D.Gray-man” and “Bungou Stray Dogs” to the table. Aniplex, a veteran anime production company, handles production. While budget details haven’t been officially disclosed, the stunning animation and action sequences glimpsed in trailers suggest a significant investment in making this season visually electrifying.
