“Class” directed by Ashim Ahluwalia, is the Indian adaptation of the very popular Spanish series “Elite”, which will debut on Netflix on February 3, as announced by the streaming service on Tuesday.
The young adult series is set at a glamorous school called “Hampton International” where three new students from poor backgrounds enrol for a new term, thanks to a scholarship.
When three new scholarship students enter the exclusive world of Hampton International, it eventually leads to a clash between two different worlds. Their arrival leads to a dangerous mix which culminates with the death of a student.
“You may enter this Class but can you be a part of it?” Captioned the streaming service on Tuesday with the release of its trailer.
“Class is a relevant and powerful story about the class divide. The series takes an unfiltered look at the everyday dilemmas, emotions and conflicts the youth goes through.” Said the series head, Tanya Bami.
The series features an ensemble cast that includes Gurfateh Pirzada, Anjali Sivaraman and Ayesha Kanga.
“It was quite a task to adapt a show that has had enormous love globally, particularly because I wanted to rework its cinematic language and set it in New Delhi. I was keen to make something real and intense, something that charts the heightened emotions of teenage life. I also wanted to explore class, something we engage with daily but rarely see authentically depicted on screen.” said the director, Ashim Ahluwalia.
