59% Productions and DMC Film are jointly producing the British dystopian thriller, “The Kitchen,” slated for a Netflix release in January 2024. Film4 and Factory Fifteen are also contributing to the production.
The film, conceptualized in 2016 by Daniel Kaluuya, Kibwe Tavares, and Daniel Emmerson, is set in futuristic London and Paris. The plot revolves around societal issues, including rising house prices and the elimination of the Welfare State.
First announced in 2016, the project faced delays and funding challenges. Despite a Sundance Directors Lab scheme and ScreenDaily’s 2018 profile on DMC Film, production commenced in March 2022.
