Marakkar Lion of the Arabian Sea is an Upcoming Malayalam Language Film. The Movie is an epic historical war story of the 16th century. The movie tells the story of Kunjali Marakkar IV. He was a naval commander of Calicut and famous for defending the Malabar Coast against the invasion of the Portuguese.
The movie is written and directed by Priyadarshan while the screenplay of the film was jointly written by Priyadarshan and Ani I. V. Sasi. The film was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainments.
The distribution of the film was handled by Max Movies in Kerala and in Tamil Nadu it is handled by V Creation. The Movie features Mohanlal in the lead role along with Arjun, Sunil Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Mukesh, Siddique, Pranav Mohanlal, and Nedumudi Venu in supporting roles.
The Movie was originally scheduled to be released in 5000 theatres worldwide in the Malayalam Language along with Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada dubbed versions on 26th March 2020 but held back due to Covid-19 Pandemic. Now the lead actor of the film, “Mohanlal” had confirmed the release date of the film via his official Twitter. He wrote, “#MarakkarLionoftheArabianSea releasing Worldwide on May 13, 2021”.
