Money Heist comes to an end with its fifth season in 2022 but fans will be glad to know they can feel the magic again soon as Netflix announced a Korean adaptation of the Spanish Crime Drama. The new series is called Money Heist: Korea – United Economic Zone and is coming to Netflix globally in June 2022.
The consumption of South Korean media has grown exponentially over the past decade and especially for K-Drama which is fast-tracking itself as one of the best streaming services for K-Drama-related content. Adding a Korean adaption of the Money Heist only makes Netflix Library more important.
The series is being produced by BH Entertainment and content zium. The series will be directed by Kim-Hong-Sun who has previously worked on K-Dramas such as The Voice and The Guest. Netflix original series ‘My Holo Love’ screenwriter, ‘Ryu Yong-Jae, will serve as a screenwriter for the upcoming adaptation he will co-write with Choe-Sung-jun and ‘Kim-Hwan-Chae’.
Filming began on 18 September 2021 and lasted for a few months and finally ended on 18 January 2022. The filming also ended with the release of the teaser trailer of the series and the entire filming took place in ‘Seoul’, South Korea.
