A fantasy drama with a new take on Norse mythology, “Ragnarok” is definitely binge-worthy. The show gives the fundamental idea a reincarnation twist in order to avoid simply depicting the Norse gods and their enemies as ages-old characters who have been at it for ages.
As a result, “Ragnarok” can serve as a sort of origin tale for a superhero, with young Magne (David Stakston) discovering that he is the thunder god Thor.
He must stop the end of the world with the help of his newly discovered powers.
In particular, he must fight against ancient giants who pose as a wealthy family in order to start the catastrophic climate change event known as Ragnarok. By the time “Ragnarok” Season 2 concludes, the small town of Edda is teeming with mythological figures, all of whom are headed in the same direction. This is because the Norse Netflix series isn’t afraid to introduce fresh elements of mystery and mayhem in the plot.
Now all that is required of the viewers is a third season that depicts the course of the war between the gods and their adversaries.
Let’s examine what is known about “Ragnarok” Season 3’s release date, cast, storyline, and other details.
On April 8, the official “Ragnarok” Instagram account announced that Season 3 was in production, but subsequent months saw few updates. Finally, Netflix announced that it would be available in June 2023. Season 3 of “Ragnarok” will debut on the streaming service on August 24, 2023.
Season 1 of “Ragnarok” focuses mainly on Magne’s developing powers and his conflicts with the Jutul family, while Season 2 ups the ante by introducing viewers to a plethora of other Norse god reincarnations. Additionally, it demonstrates that Laurits, Magne’s (David Stakston) half-brother, is, in fact, Loki the trickster (Jonas Strand Gravli).
Perhaps predictably, the second season’s finale finds the siblings at odds with one another after Magne betrays Laurits’ trust and the latter’s schemes result in the release of the deadly Jörmungandr, the serpent that can kill Thor.
Magne and the other reincarnated gods are undoubtedly in serious trouble, even with their potential alliance with Saxa (Theresa Frostad Eggesb), assuming that Season 3 follows its predecessor’s example and picks up where “Ragnarok” Season 2 left off.
Additionally to the fact that Laurits has firmly joined the anti-Magne camp and that his deadly “tapeworm” is now at large, the remaining Jutuls are still as destructive as ever.
It’s probably safe to say that Season 3 of “Ragnarok” will be extremely dangerous for the protagonists even without accounting for all the unavoidable new threats.
