T-series, Reliance Entertainment, and match cut production has launched the first trailer for Director Srijit Mukherji’s satire Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga starring Pankaj Tripathi. Inspired by the strange true practices near Pilibhit Tiger Reserve where people leave their elderly family members to hunt by tigers. People used it to claim compensation from the administration.
The film is slated for a theatrical release on June 24. Tripathi plays Gangaram, the sarpanch of a village that has been denied compensation by the authorities. After wild animals destroyed agricultural land, run by his fellow villagers. Gangaram then decides to Manipulate a government scheme. Through which, 10 lakh rupees will be given as compensation to the families of the people who died in the tiger attack.
Comparing himself to Bhagat Singh, he decides to sacrifice himself due to the anger of his wife. But Gangaram’s plan fails when he meets a hunter played by Neeraj Kabi and is later arrested on suspicion of trying to kill the tigers. The trailer then drops its satirical tone and then turns into a courtroom drama with a message.
This is the filmmaker’s second Hindi film feature after Begum Jaan. He also directed two episodes of the Netflix anthology series Mithu, The Mithali Raj biopic starring Taapsee Pannu. Pankaj Tripathi was last seen in Bachchan Pandey.
