Parineeti Chopra’s The Girl on the Train has joined the bandwagon of films to be released directly on OTT platforms. The actress today announced that the film will release on Netflix on February 26. She also released the first teaser of the film.

An official Bollywood adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ 2015 bestseller, The Girl on The Train is directed by Ribhu Dasgupta. The Girl on the Train follows Meera (played by Parineeti Chopra), who fixates on the perfect lives of a couple from afar, during her daily commutes on the train. One day, she witnesses something out of the ordinary, that shocks her.

The film follows her journey as she tries to unravel the truth. The film is set in the UK. Apart from Parineeti, the film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari and Avinash Tiwary. The Girl on the Train also has a Hollywood version starring Emily Blunt and directed by Tate Taylor. It was released in 2016.

Last year, Parineeti Chopra shot for Ribhu Dasgupta’s The Girl on the Train Hindi remake in London. After wrapping up the film, Parineeti took to social media to bid farewell to her character in the film. Calling it a “life-changing” experience, Parineeti said that the character will stay with her forever.

She wrote, “So, I leave London after 7 weeks, finishing The Girl On The Train. Words fail me. Feelings overwhelm me. This is a film that has for the first time, stayed with me after I’ve finished it. A character that will live inside me permanently. I miss her. I miss playing with her. I feel like I’ve grown up. I feel so much. But most of all, I feel grateful. Life-changing, in an understatement...” She added, “I’m smiling as I write this, and with that, I head back home – looking forward, with my heart full…“
