Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has been successful in forming a sanitizing chamber termed as ‘GermiKlean’ to sanitize the uniforms of those in security forces.
This chamber had been set up at Parliament Street Police Station. This step was taken as a necessary action when the task of sanitizing their uniforms, canes, cane shields, helmets, etc. had been requested by the Delhi police.
“We can keep our uniforms and other items to be sanitised inside the chamber and it has proved to be really beneficial for us. I am really thankful to DRDO for taking this initiative on our request. DRDO has also designed a sanitisation tunnel for us and they have also designed a mat for us for foot sanitization,” said Eish Singhal, DCP, Parliament Street Police Station.
This chamber has been designed as a dry heat treatment chamber that can sanitize 25 pairs of uniforms within 15 minutes.
This was also needed as the police force has to be duty call, irrespective of the pandemic outbreak and over 800 Delhi police personnel have tested positive while five have so far lost their lives. Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava also said the number is going to upgrade day by day in the security forces as cases are at a huge number in Delhi and increasing every day.
“We are taking the best care of our policemen. All the policemen are feeling that they are being looked after by their seniors,” he added.
The measure, to increase the immunity rate of the personnel, has been taken. Delhi Police has distributed Ayurvedic medicines from AYUSH to each of the over 81,000 of them while in the second round 15,000 police personnel were given Ayurvedic medicines. Strict social distancing is also followed by the police, inside the houses and in the workspace as well.
