HC directs Delhi Govt. to show real-time data of beds for Covid-19 patients

After the Supreme court implied how disastrous Delhi is been handled during the pandemic, the High Court has now directed the Centre and the AAP-led administration to supplement more beds and ventilators for the COVID patients in the India capital. Delhi has also been instructed to give and upload ‘real-time data’ of the availability of beds in the hospitals. Also earlier, the need for more cremation buildings are in great need in Delhi.

The number of patients has reached 36,824 in the national capital, LG Anil Baijal gave his support to involve stadiums and auditoriums as the quarantine centres to meet the need for extra beds. AIIMS Delhi has also converted the newly constructed ‘Plastic and Burn’ block into a dedicated COVID centre that resulted in the addition of 100 beds to the city.

Supreme court stated earlier how heartbreaking it is to see government hospitals failing to curb the increasing number of patients and how they actually handled COVID patients and dead bodies in the hospitals.

To curb the rise in cases, L-G Anil Baijal has also appointed an advisory committee consisting of members from the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to make recommendations, formulating a practical approach to deal with the crisis.
