Eid ul-Adha or Bakrid is celebrated with much fervour among those who follow Islam. It marks the readiness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in order to prove his obedience to Allah.
This festival is being celebrated by following social distancing norms with temperature checks being done for each and every one of the devotees.
Devotees offered prayers on Eid al-Adha at Jama Masjid in Delhi. In view of COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing norms were followed. The temperature of devotees was also checked as a precautionary measure to restrict virus spread. Eid al-Adha or Bakrid, also known as ‘Sacrifice Feast’ is marked by sacrificing a sheep or a goat to prove their devotion and love for Allah.
Devotees offered prayers in Chandigarh where Police personnel have been deployed outside Jama Masjid in Sector 20. People also offered prayers in Ludhiana and all over the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday conveyed his greetings on the occasion of Eid, and tweeted, “Eid Mubarak! May this day inspire us to create a just, harmonious and inclusive society. May the spirit of brotherhood and compassion be furthered.”
