IPL 2020- BCCI secretary said, ‘Over 20 crore people watched IPL opener’

With the pandemic of COVID – 19 that put the entire world to a pause mode and in quarantine, the IPL season was suspended. BCCI debated it to cancel them or not but now that they are scheduled to take place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, turns out all goes well!

In spite that the matches have been taking place without any audience this year; BCCI said that the match was watched by over 20 crore people. “Opening match of #Dream11IPL sets a new record! As per BARC, an unprecedented 20crore people tuned in to watch the match. . Highest ever opening day viewership for any sporting league has ever opened as big as this.” Tweeted Shah.

The Opener match was between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. With these matches that are streamed on various channels, viewers sitting at home have managed to view all of these. Considering that most people have Worked from Home one can sit in the comfort of their home and watch all the games.

With CSK chasing MI’s target of 163 runs, CSK versus is always the game-deciding most exciting matches of all times. A match like this did deserve the 20 crore views that it got. Not only that, it has been the highest as compared to any other sports game.
