On the opening day of India Couture Week (ICW), actress Kiara Advani made a daring entrance wearing a Barbie-inspired outfit by design team Falguni and Shane Peacock.
The designers showed off their “Renaissance Reverie” collection of bridal clothing for men and women on Tuesday. The collection was motivated by the designers’ love of art and the treasures they discover while travelling, according to the collection note.
Advani, who is no stranger to the ICW runway, appeared just as stunning as ever as she made her way across the stage in a bright pink ensemble with bead and sequin work.
Many dubbed the dress an outfit fit for “desi Barbie,” a reference to the iconic Mattel doll that served as the inspiration for a Hollywood production that is currently playing in theatres all over the world and has a star-studded cast led by Margot Robbie. The dress had a plunging neckline on the top and a long train at the back of the skirt.
“As an attention-getter, it was the ideal outfit which maybe cost crores. Such a functional outfit, it was, the beauty of all the creations is that we styled them in western Fashion. The Satyaprem ki Katha actor told reporters after the event that each piece is versatile and can be worn however the wearer prefers.
Advani claimed that turning into the star for Falguni and Shane Peacock was a no-brainer.
