KXIP players wears “Black Band” in the honour of Dean Jones

The sudden death of former Australian cricketer and famous cricket commentator Dean Jones sent the cricket community into a state of shock on Thursday. Many former cricketers, fans expressed their sadness, grief and shock on social media and paid their respects to the late cricketer.

Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore, who were face to face in Dubai on Thursday evening, also showed their respect for the late cricketer by wearing a black armband. Captain Virat Kohli and KL Rahul as well as Mayank Agarwal, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal. Players from both the teams can be seen wearing a black band.

Dean Jones died at a hotel in Mumbai where he was staying for his role as a commentator and expert for IPL broadcaster Star Sports. He was 59 years old. Many cricketers including Virat Kohli posted their condolences from their twitter accounts.

Dean Jones suffered a major cardiac arrest in the hotel lobby and, despite an attempt by fellow commentator and Australian Brett Lee to give Jones CPR, he died. He said It is with great sadness that we share the news of the demise of Mr Dean Mervyn Jones A.M. He died of an accidental cardiac arrest, ”Star said in a media release.

As a right-handed batsman, he played 52 tests and 164 one days international for Australia team and scored about 3631 test runs and 6068 ODI runs in his career over 10 years. Dean Jones worked as a cricket commentator for many channels across the world.
