A massive explosion has occurred in the boiler of Neyveli Thermal Plant located in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. According to reports, 6 people have died and at least 17 have been injured in the accident. The rescue team has arrived at the spot for carrying injured to the hospital. The plant is under the authority of Neyveli Lignite Corporation. The reason for the blast is still not clear.
Cuddalore Superintendent of Police, M. Sree Abhinav stated that a number of casualties have been reached upto 6 and 17 are injured in the explosion that took place at a boiler of Neyveli lignite plant.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed concern over the incident. He tweeted, “Anguished to learn about the loss of lives due to a blast at Neyveli power plant boiler in Tamil Nadu. Have spoken to Tamil Nadu CM and assured all possible help.” He has deployed CRPF at the spot for a faster pace of rescue work.
The explosion took place in the morning when plant workers were going to start their work. This is not the first time blast took place in Tamil Nadu before that similar blast occurred on May 7 in which five people had been killed.
