As the world is fighting against the dangerous pandemic Covid-19 which had killed more than 1.5 lakh people globally, so to express the solidarity the mountain Matterhorn in Switzerland was lit up with a picture of the Indian flag. The picture was posted on twitter by the official page of India in Switzerland, The Holy See & Liechtenstein.
“Indian Tricolor on the Matterhorn Mountain: Indian Tricolor of quite 1000 meters in size projected on Matterhorn Mountain, Zermatt, Switzerland to precise Solidarity to all or any Indians within the fight against Covid-19. A big many thanks to @zermatt_tourism for the gesture. @MEAIndia (Sic),” this was the caption to the post.
The image was shared by prime Minister Narendra Modi within a short period of time, who wrote, “The world is fighting covid-19 together. Humanity will surely overcome this pandemic.”
The Matterhorn is one of the highest peaks of the Swiss Alps. It is internationally known by its German name the Matterhorn. It is of perfect pyramid shape and thus it owes its fame because of this. Matterhorn one among the simplest known mountains within the Alps, straddling the frontier between Switzerland and Italy, 6 miles (10km) southwest of the village of Zematt, Switzerland.

During these days of Coronavirus pandemic the Matterhorn is illuminated daily. The projections take place from 21:30 hrs until midnight and from 02:00 hrs to 04:00 hrs. With this projection of lights give the message like #hope #solidarity #thankyou, Zermatt wants to give hope of unity and support in this time of difficulties where everyone is fighting against the pandemic. From last few days they have been projecting the flags of UK, US, Germany, Spain and Portugal.
As one of the most popular country is suffering from corona crisis. It’s a very big challenge for every country to fight against the dangerous pandemic and to protect their population. The Indian flag projected on Matterhorn Mountain in the Swiss Alps to give hope and strength to all Indians.
