The Coronavirus pandemic has become havoc to the planet. The phrase #newnormal is used everywhere, as maintaining social distancing, keeping hands clean and wearing a mask has become common.
The 73rd Independence Day is approaching and the preparations have started. Earlier the preparations started quite early, but due to the pandemic, it’s not possible to do such. The Ministry of Home Affairs in its advisory sent a notice to all the states and the notice says, “Every year, Independence Day is celebrated with grandeur, gaiety, fervour and enthusiasm. This year also, Independence Day will be celebrated in a manner befitting the occasion. However, in the view of Covid-19 pandemic, while organizing various ceremonies or activities for Independence Day celebrations, it is imperative to follow certain preventive measures such as maintaining social distance, wearing a mask, proper sanitization and follow guidelines related to Covid-19 issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.”
The Ministry advised that it would be great if frontline workers like doctors, nurses, policemen and the patients who were affected by the virus and now recovered are invited to the ceremony. It added that in the function at the Red Fort only 250 people are expected to attend the Prime minister’s address.
Thus, it can be seen that the ministry says not to celebrate the day in public, rather use the medium of technology and celebrate it together, keeping the main aim of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
