Team India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami has come forward to help in the fight against coronavirus pandemic by setting up food distribution stalls in his hometown in Uttar Pradesh.
For distributing masks and food, the 29-year-old cricketer has set up stalls along the National Highway 24 in Uttar Pradesh. The Indian pacer has also set up a food distribution stall near his house in Sahaspur.
On Tuesday, hailing his help to migrant workers, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a clip in which Shami is distributing food packets to migrant workers who are travelling to their hometowns by road.
The BCCI tweeted, “As #IndiaFightsCorona, @MdShami11 comes forward to help people trying to reach home by distributing food packets & masks on National Highway No. 24 in Uttar Pradesh. He has also set up food distribution centres near his house in Sahaspur.
“We are in this together,” the BCCI said.

Not only their daily bread, but many of them have also lost their lives while trying to return to their hometowns from major cities.
Earlier, Mohammed Shami had revealed about an incident in which he had seen a migrant labourer fainting in hunger outside his house via CCTV visuals. Shami stated that he straight away rushed out of his residence to feed the worker who was on his way to Bihar from Rajasthan via Lucknow. “I am trying to help as much as I can. There are migrant workers here who are really struggling to meet ends. The highway is also near my house so I can see people having a tough time. I feel I should help and I am doing as much as possible,” Shami had said.
