Netflix India announces a list of 41 new TITLES

This is the largest slate Netflix has introduced in a single go from India, and insiders say that extra authentic content material will probably be introduced all through 2021. For now, the 41 new titles are already greater than what Netflix India has launched in years previous.

In 2020, Netflix released 31 Indian titles, together with 10 sequences, 16 films, and 5 comedy specials. That was the product of an Rs. 3,000 crores (about $420 million) funding that Netflix CEO Reed Hastings had introduced when he visited New Delhi in late 2019. Netflix did not present a brand new quantity on the See What’s Next India occasion on Wednesday.

Netflix India said on Wednesday that it will release more than 40 originals in India in 2021, which includes movies, television series, documentaries, reality series, and stand up comedy specials. These include new titles and new seasons of existing shows.

Some new titles include a new reality show called ‘Social Currency’, new seasons of reality television series ‘Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives’ and Conde Nast India’s wedding reality show ‘The Big Day’, and a comedy special by Kapil Sharma.

Documentary titles ‘Searching for Sheela’, ‘Crime Stories: India Detectives’, ‘House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths’ and ‘Indian Predator’ are also included in the lineup of new shows.

The new titles feature high-profile Indian actors and producers including Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar, Manoj Bajpayee, R. Madhavan, Raveena Tandon, Neena Gupta, and Dhanush.

The new roster includes “Bombay Begums,” which follows stories of five women across generations wrestling with desire, ethics, and personal crises, “Decoupled,” a comedy by writer Manu Joseph on India and marriage, and the second season of Emmy-winning drama “Delhi Crime.”

Also on the list are comedy specials that have become immensely popular on streaming services in India. Netflix said comedians including Sumukhi Suresh, Aakaash Gupta, Rahul Dua, and Prashasti Singh — all of whom have participated in comedy shows by Amazon Prime Video — will have shows on the streaming service this year.
