One arrested under Kerala Elephant killing case, more suspects to be watched

On Friday, Kerela Forest Department stated that one person accused in the death of a pregnant elephant in Kerala’s Palakkad district has been arrested by police.

The department tweeted, “KFD has zeroed in on the culprits and recorded the first arrest in the wild elephant death case”.

The state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated on Tuesday that three suspects were under the scanner of teams investigating the brutal death of the pregnant wild elephant.

Also, he stated that the Personnel of Kerala police and the forest department’s Crime Investigation Team who are investigating the incident reached the spot and collected evidence and assured that all concerns raised will not be worthless and justice will prevail and the culprits will be penalized for committing such heinous crime.

State Governor Arif Mohammed Khan also expressed his twitter to express his agony over the animal’s death and tweeted, “thousands of petitions from Kerala and outside” have been filed and the public outrage “evoked by this shocking event is certainly understandable”.

His comments came amidst the death of an elephant caused by eating a pineapple stuffed with firecrackers in Kerala’s Palakkad district. On May 25, she died in the river Velliyar where she took shelter while wounded.

On social media, the video of the elephant went viral which gave rise to uproar to bring the culprits to justice.
