Rahul Gandhi tweeted, ‘PM must ensure CARES FUND is audited and records are made available to the public’

The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations or PM CARES Fund were developed to collect funds for the materials to curb the effect of coronavirus. No one has adequate data as to where is the money being used.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has demanded from Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the Funding should be ‘audited’ so that the public could see where is all the money, they chipped in, being used.

“The PM Cares Fund has received huge contributions from PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) and major public utilities like the Railways. It’s important that PM ensures the fund is audited and that the record of the money received and spent is available to the public,” Mr Gandhi tweeted.

As there have been several appeals from all the officials of our nation to contribute to the fund, there seems to be no problem in letting people know the working strategy of the government though this money. Almost people from every sector have pooled in large amounts to the tax-free fund, even big stars.

However, opposition parties poked upon this question of need the of PM Cares Fund, when Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) already exists since 1948.
Another question was raised by Rahul Gandhi a few days ago, “On the one hand, the railways is charging ticket fare from migrant workers stranded in various states of the country, on the other hand, the Ministry of Railways is donating Rs 151 crore in PM-CARES Fund. Solve this puzzle!” Rahul Gandhi tweeted in Hindi.

“Since the fund is based on donations of individuals and organisations, we have no right to audit the charitable organisation,” the answer to Rahul Gandhi’s questions came from CAG office.
