Supreme court to consider a PIL seeking to fix an upper limit for covid 19 treatment at private hospitals

To place a restriction or fixation on the cost of treatments of covid 19 at the private hospitals in the country, the supreme court will be hearing public interest litigation after sorting the decision from the centre on the issue raised.

On the PIL filed by Abhisekh Goenka, the supreme court’ bench headed by justice Ashok Bhushan issued a notice to the centre for the fixation of the upper limit for the cost of treatment of covid 19 in the country’s private hospitals.

The court has asked to serve a copy of the PIL to solicitor general Tushar Mehta who will take the decision and replay in a week’s time? the plea also requests for increment in the number of private quarantine facilities on the basis of payment to the infected people which is currently not given to the patients and the government has been asked to fix indicative rates for similar standard facilities and that there
should be a time-bound settlement by the insurance companies of the medical claim and the insurance of cashless treatment facilities to all the insured patients.
