The Income Tax Department raided the house of the popular and outspoken Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu on 3rd March 2021. After being close-mouthed for 3 days, Taapsee Pannu finally took to Twitter to put the rumour mill to a halt and offer some clarification to her fans. Shedding the light on the matter, she said that the raids were held for 3 primary reasons.
Primarily, she owns a bungalow in Paris which she denied. The other being the receipt of ₹5 Crores which she alleges was a plan to frame her. The government faced backlash on Twitter from her fans after the news of the raid broke out.
Finance minister Nirmal Sitharaman defended the raids yesterday and said that the same people were raided back in 2013 and it was not a big issue then. Replying to her statement, she sarcastically tweeted “My memory of the 2013 raid that happened with me according to our honourable finance minister. P.S- “not so sasti” anymore.”
Her new tweets had divided responses. While many Twitterati extended support to her, some also criticized her. Taapsee is very vocal on social and political issues and has many times found herself in controversy by her tweets.
