US Has Now The Most Number Of Confirmed COVID-19 Cases

The United States,which recorded it’s first confirmed case two months ago,now has more than 100,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus epidemic,as reported by state’s health departments. The nation passed 10,000 cases on March 19 and on Thursday became the country with the most confirmed cases.

Shortly after signing a swooping $2trillion coronavirus spending package into law, President Trump moved to curb oversight provisions in the legislation and assert presidential authority over a new inspector general’s office created to monitor the disbursement of loans. The decision could set up a momentous battle between the White House and Congress as the administration implements the new law.

President Trump has issued an order that permits the Pentagon to bring former troops back to active duty to augment forces already involved in the military response to the pandemic. It comes as the United States has become the epicenter of the novel coronavirus pandemic,with more than 100,000 confirmed infections and nearly 1,600 deaths.

The deadly virus which shook the world has made many organizations givers. Now,Delta Air Lines has announced it would fly medical workers free to parts of the United States where infections are spreading rapidly. The New York City area is the current United States epicenter,but the surgeon general warned that Detroit, New Orleans and Chicago are becoming “hot spots”. New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo(D) had said that his state has secured about half of the ventilators it needs. Meanwhile,Trump voiced his frustration with governors who haven’t been as “appreciative” towards him and his administration over it’s response to the coronavirus.

The United States which overtook Italy and China as the country with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases. This has been seen as a fire crisis and on extraordinary failure of President Donald Trump. Americans are seen to be suffering and dying because of Trump administration failure to act quickly and decisively to prevent the virus spread. The United States saw an increase of more than 15,000 cases in one day,a shocking surge that can be explained by both the spread of the virus and increased testing after weeks of shortages- pushing the total number of confirmed cases over 82,000.

Donald Trump is now struggling to reassure a fearful nation as it surepasses virus hotspots China and Italy with 82,404 cases of infection,which was broken to the president while holding a press conference at the White House. His instinctive response was to question other countries’ statistics. “It’s a tribute to the amount of testing that we’re doing,” Trump told reporters. He said,” We’re doing tremendous testing, and I’m sure you’re not able to tell what China is testing or not testing. I think that’s a little hard“.

While United States has increased it’s testing capacity in recent days,the process has been flawed and incoherent,and the country still lags behind leaders such as South Korea in terms of the numbers of tests administered per-capita.

The President has been widely condemned for failing to act fast enough, misjudging the public mood and seeking to blame others rather than taking personal responsibility.
