Vijay Mallya appeals to India, ‘Take my money and close the case’

On Thursday, promoter of the defunct Kingfisher Airlines, Vijay Mallya, who fled India and moved to London in March 2016 and is currently fighting against his extradition to India, asked the government to accept his offer to repay 100 per cent of his loan dues and the close case against him. He is wanted in India over alleged fraud and money laundering charges related to unrecovered loans to Kingfisher Airlines of approximately Rs 9,000 crore,

Earlier this month, after losing an appeal in the London High Court against an extradition order to India, Mallya had filed an appeal in the UK Supreme Court.

He offered to repay earlier as well but, neither banks were willing to take the money nor the Enforcement Directorate was willing to release his attached assets at the behest of the banks.
