Virat Kohli was born on 5 November 1988 in Delhi to Prem Kohli and Saroj Kohli’s home. His brother’s name is Vikas, sister’s name Bhavna and his wife’s name is Anushka Sharma. Kohli’s childhood was spent in the Uttam Nagar area of Delhi and he studied at Vishal Bharti Public School.

Virat is also often called ‘Chiku’. This nickname has been given to Virat by his coach Ajeet Chaudhary.

Virat Kohli started his cricket career in 1998 by joining the West Delhi Cricket Association. He was selected in under-19 cricket in July 2006 and in November 2006 he played his first Ranji match against Tamil Nadu for Delhi.

Virat Kohli’s story is very famous that his father Prem Kohli died on 18 December 2006 and the next day Virat played brilliant innings of 90 runs against Karnataka.

In the 2008 Under-19 World Cup, Virat Kohli captained the Indian team and also won the World Cup in a great way. Ravindra Jadeja was also in his team at that time.

When Kohli was the first bid in the IPL of 2008, Bangalore bought him for around Rs 12 lakh. While in the coming 2018, their rate in the IPL was Rs 17 crore. Meaning, 141 times more in just 10 years.

Virat Kohli gets Rs 3 lakh in every match of writing MRF on his bat.

In March 2013, Virat Kohli started a charity called the Virat Kohli Foundation. This charity works for poor children and their education.

Virat Kohli holds the record for the youngest ODI Player of the Year award. In 2012, he was given this award at the age of 22.
