24 Migrants Killed, 36 injured in a truck accident in Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh

A truck coming from Rajasthan, filled with construction material collided near Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh with a supply lorry, which was coming from Delhi, early on Saturday, at 3:30 a.m., killing twenty-four migrant workers and fifteen seriously injured were shifted to the Saifai Medical College in Etawah.

Abhishek Singh, District Magistrate, Auraiya said many of the ones who died belonged to Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Jai Narayan Singh, ADG, U.P., said it would be investigated how so many people were on the truck and two station in-charge officers have been suspended.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed that all the injured be provided medical care immediately, and the Commissioner and IG Kanpur to visit the site and submit a report on the cause of the accident and instructed the police to file cases against the owners of the two trucks and seize the vehicles.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav announced a compensation of ₹1 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and demanded that the BJP government should take moral responsibility and compensate these families with ₹10 lakh each.
