On the Death Anniversary of his mother Teji Bachchan, megastar Amitabh Bachchan remembered her struggle during her illness.
Teji, who was a social activist, was born into a Khatri Sikh Punjabi family in Faisalabad, Punjab, India. She got married to Amitabh’s father Harivansh Rai Bachchan in 1941.
She played Lady Macbeth in her husband’s Hindi adaptation of Macbeth and also did a cameo appearance in Amitabh-starrer ‘Kabhie Kabhie‘.
“The misery of departure is such an incessant grief .. it leaves one silenced and filled with a void that one feels shall never ever be filled… the pain of the ones that are left behind to grieve is uncontrollable… and most difficult to perceive,” Big B wrote on his official blog.
“(It) is the remembrance of the departure of Ma… Maa ji… she left us… the most beautiful Mother in the world… they all are, the most beautiful… that is why they are Ma,” he added.
The 78-year-old actor said his mother brought laughter, joy and the “essence of life in all of us in every situation”. “Those moments of her passing shall ever remain in imagery that shall never be erased… Never say die for her was a command. In the most desperate situations, she sat beside you, caressed your forehead and suddenly the softness of her palms took away all anxiety, anxiousness and fear,” he added.
