As some optimists have put the pandemic as a way of Earth taking rest, Nature’s revenge, and all. One of those is ‘The pandemic has taught the word to be self- sufficient and self- reliant as much as possible’. And as such, India has already had an initiative with a similar motive under the name ‘Make in India’ Now it has gained even more importance.

In Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on Tuesday, he highlighted the significance of manufacturing and producing goods locally to promote the idea of a self- reliant India. Additionally, Home Minister and ex-President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Ami Shah had also made statements promoting the PM’s words. He declared that all the CAPF ( Central Armed Police Forces ) canteens shall sell only indigenous goods.

He tweeted making an appeal to the country’s citizens to use the only country made goods and encourage others to do the same. He expressed confidence that if every Indian pledged to use Swadeshi goods only, the democracy of India can become self- sufficient in just five years. He also said that doing so will not only make the country self- reliant but also lift the country’s reputation making it a world leader in the coming times.

During his address on Tuesday, the Prime Minister has spotlighted the Locals that have helped us and are still helping us through this pandemic. The Local fulfilled our demand, saved us. It is not just the need, it is a responsibility, he said. Time has taught us to make Local a mantra of our life. When the Local could help us in such a crisis, it can do the same at all times. All Global brands were also very Local similarly once upon a time, he said.
