Centre Govt announces interim advance relief of Rs 1000 Cr to West Bengal due to Cyclone Amphan

2020 is indeed the worst Year in centuries. India hasn’t been overcome by corona crisis yet another disaster CYCLONE AMPHAN hit Odisha and West Bengal hardly. Gusty winds left both states in severely battered condition and many people lost their lives to this deadly storm.
PM Narendra Modi went on to aerial survey to see the condition of affected areas and announced interim advance relief of Rs 1000 Cr to Amphan hit Bengal in the wake of the cyclone.

According to reports, the prime minister held review meetings with the West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee and also announced a compensation of 2 lakh to the families of those killed during devastation caused by the cyclone and 50,000 for injured.

During the visit, Prime minister assured the centre’s full support to cyclone-hit Bengal. He also said we should work together in testing time to make suffered people live better.

He concluded his briefing by saying “All aspects relating to rehabilitation, reconstruction will be addressed”.

After meeting with the prime minister, Mamta Banerjee said that the loss incurred due to Cyclone amphan is approximately 1 lakh crore. “In this hour of crisis, we all must work together. I have informed PM Narendra Modi in length about destruction post-cyclone” she said.
She also claimed devastation in Kolkata, the state capital is bigger than Covid-19.

This catastrophic Cyclone took at least 86 people lives across West Bengal and many of them electrocuted after venturing into stagnant water.

The intensity of cyclone was so high that thousands of trees uprooted in the gales, transformers, electricity and telephone lines brought down and house flattened.

Cyclone Amphan is first super cyclonic storm occurs in the Bay of Bengal since the 1999 Odisha cyclone. It also caused widespread devastation by brutal winds in neighbouring Odisha and Bangladesh. Millions of people across India have lost their lives and left without power.
