Delhi Metro is likely to resume services on selective routes in lockdown 4.0

The third phase of lockdown has been intended to end on 17 May. But the Lockdown 4.O has already been proposed, with some relaxations in the existing norms.

As such, the Delhi Government has decided to allow operation of public transportation. And in that regard, it has allowed the functioning of Metro trains in select routes in the extended lockdown.

All the Metro trains have been suspended since the Janata Curfew on 22 March.
The Government has allowed the operation of a limited number of trains on selected routes adhering to social distancing norms. This will commence on 18 May.

Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi has already declared on Tuesday that the next phase of lockdown will be implemented but with ‘totally different’ rules.

Though DMRC ( Delhi Metro Tail Corporation) is ready to run the trains, the final decision regarding the operation will be in the hands of the Centre, said Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot.

Thermal screening of all passengers will be done. If any station is congested, the station will not allow any entry at such places. Additionally, Anuj Dayal, Executive Director of DMRC has said that all services including signalling, electrical, rolling, stock, tracks, etc will be thoroughly tested before coming into work, so as to ensure full-fledged safety of the customers.
