Bheed is an upcoming movie directed by Anubhav Sinha, who also directed blockbuster movies like Article 15, Thappad etc. The film is a socio-political thriller and brings you the horrors of lockdown. The movie will hit the cinemas on 24th March 2023. The cast of the movie includes Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar as the lead. The film is made in black and white and portrays the effect of covid on different strata of society.
The trailer starts with the announcement of Prime Minister Modi stating a complete lockdown in the country. Rajkummar Rao a cop says, “Justice is always in the hands of the powerful. If the powerless served justice, justice would be different.” Kritika Kamra, who is playing the role of a journalist in the film also compares the coronavirus lockdown to the India-Pakistan partition. She talks about how borders are made within their own country and people are struggling to find a place to live.
From police beatings to the spraying of disinfectants, various police atrocities are also shown. It shows how the privileged were safe inside their comfort of home while the poor suffered greatly.
While answering the question of why Sinha chose to make it in black and white, he said that the effect of lockdown and of partition on people was similar.
