We’re on the edge of our seats after watching the new Shelter trailer on Prime Video.
Coben is well-known for his YA mysteries and thrillers, and his most recent series-which is based on his 2011 trilogy-is the first to be made available on Prime Video. Coben’s works have already been adapted before and have been made available on Netflix.
The story of Shelter centres on Mickey Bolitar (Jaden Michael), a teenager who recently lost his father in a car accident. The fictional New Jersey town of Kasselton, which serves as the show’s setting, is modelled after Coben’s actual hometown of Livingston.
The “Bat Lady”(Tovah Feldshuh), who Mickey identifies as a “old lady with grey hair” and who his friend Spoon (Adrian Greensmith) refers to as “our town bogeyman,” is revealed in today’s brand-new trailer. In his account to his friends, Mickey says that “she called out[his] dad was still alive. “Following the disappearance of a girl named Ashely whom Mickey met school, what he and his friends Spoon and Ema (Abby Corrigan) initially dismiss as nothing quickly turns into something. Mickey “can’t walk away” from the investigation into a number of town disappearances and is drawn back to the enigmatic home where he first met the “Bat Lady.”
Mickey’s mother Shira (Constance Zimmer) is heard saying, “Everybody has secrets, Mickey,” following a montage of clip showing Mickey and his friends setting out to solve this eerie suburban mystery.
While the trailer is undoubtedly exciting, it also contains comedic elements, especially in the conversations between the three friends.
The first three episodes of Shelter will be released on August 18; new episodes will then be released every Friday until September 22.
