South Indian films are best known when it comes to political issues. Tamil cinema also known as Kollywood is back again with another such movie “Laabam”. Laabam will not be released on the OTT platform but it will be in theatres on September 9, 2021.
Vijay Sethupathi was last seen on Netflix based Web Series Navarasa that did pretty well, is now playing the role of the farmer along with Shruti Hassan as a journalist. Jagapathi Babu, A rich entrepreneur can be seen exploiting farmers and their natural resources. Pakkiri as Vijay decides to unite the voice of all the farmers and rebel against the injustice. There are so many South Indian films based on farmers’ plight, one such blockbuster Telugu movie was Maharshi starring Mahesh Babu.
In today’s time especially where the farmers from all over India are protesting against the farm laws, this movie will be serving a greater purpose. A movie cannot bring change in the current scenario but it will definitely move the heart of many people about how we look at everything that is currently happening in India. Babu, Sai Dhanshika, Ramesh Thilak, Prithvi Rajan and Jai Varma will also be seen in this film. Laabam was supposed to be released last year but it got postponed due to the Covid-19.
After a long wait, it will finally be released on 9th September 2021. This will be the last movie of National Award-winning director S P Jananathan who is best known for socio-political movies. He passed away at the age of 61 on 14th March 2021. He was found unconscious by his assistants following a cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital where he was later declared dead. He is also best known for his films Peranmai and Iyarkai. This movie will be special for all his fans. Rest in peace sir, you will be in our hearts forever.
