The American supernatural drama television series Manifest, developed by Jeff Rake, debuted on NBC on September 24, 2018. It centres on the passengers and crew of a commercial aeroplane who surfaced after five and a half years after being believed to have vanished. As they discover that everyone on board their aircraft from Jamaica had been presumed dead five and a half years prior to their arrival in New York City in 2013, Manifest looks at some of the 191 passengers of Montego Air aircraft 828.
Will the Manifest then make a comeback? Sadly, the answer is no for the time being. In other words, there won’t be a fifth season of Manifest.
One explanation for this could be the year-over-year decline in ratings, which has served as a deterrent to producers who find it increasingly difficult to meet the costs of the TV programme in the years to come given the lockdown and the difficulties it poses.
While it’s true that the programme received a lot of favourable ratings up to season 3, which is hardly surprising, rating records were quickly broken after that.
