A new fantasy TV show called The Chosen One will air. The television programme is based on the Mark Millar and Peter Gross comic book series American Jesus, and it centres on a young boy who discovers he possesses Jesus Christ’s skills and must face the Antichrist.
The show is not based on the original material and instead is set in Mexico. Everado and Leopoldo Gout serve as showrunners, while Bobby Luhnow, Dianna Agron, Lilith Amelie Siordia Mejia, Juan Fernando Gonzalez Anguamea, Jorge Javier Arballo, Alberto Perez-Jacome Kenna, Patricio Serna Meza, Carlos Bardem, Alfonso Dosal, Sofia Sisniega, Eileen Yanez, and Tenoch Huerta star in the series. On August 16, 2023, it will make its Netflix debut.
Jodie, a 12-year-old boy from Baja California, finds out all of a sudden that he has supernatural abilities similar to those of Jesus. He can turn water into wine, make the paralysed walk, and maybe even raise the dead! All Jodie wants to do is make a good impression on the girl he likes and fight back against his bullies, despite the town’s Evangelical and Yaqu leaders’ attempts to convince him to use his abilities to save humanity. When Jodie learns the truth about his identity, everything gets turned upside down as he struggles and eventually accepts his fate.
Six episodes of The Chosen One are planned; they will all be directed by Everado Gout, and they will be written by Leopoldo and Everado Gout, Jorge Dorantes, Kevin Rodriguez, Iturri Sosa, and Tina de la Torre.
