DRDO builds a 1000 bed hospital in just 11 days at New Delhi

On Saturday, Delhi reported 2,505 fresh Coronavirus cases which are now a total of 97,000 with 3,004 deaths. As the cases of coronavirus are increasing day by day in the capital, The Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has decided to name different wards of new Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel COVID-19 Hospital in Delhi after the Indian army troops were martyred in the Ladakh clash last month.

DRDO arranged 1000 beds in the hospital in just 11 days with the assistance of Tata Sons. The hospital is organised at Air Force land near Airport. The hospital is to be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday.

The hospital will also have a special intensive care unit with oxygen support and will also be fully air-conditioned. Authorities have confirmed that they are working on logistics of shifting patients to the centre and charging points will be given for mobile phones/laptops and storage blocks to store the belongings.

“I would also like to inform the people of Delhi that a 1,000-bed full-fledged hospital with 250 ICU beds is being developed for Covid patients. DRDO and Tata Trust are building the facility. Armed forces personnel will man it. This Covid Care centre will be ready in the next 10 days.”, Union Minister Amit Shah said.

The temporary structure also includes 250 ICU units. The ICU ventilator ward has been named after Colonel B Santosh Babu.
