Employee tests positive for Covid19 at Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant

An employee of automobile manufacturer giant Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s Manesar plant tested corona positive on May 22, 2020, an official spokesman of the company said.

As per the statement issued by the company in early Sunday morning, the stated employee last reported to work on May 15 and had shown no symptom at the time.

According to Maruti, the said employee lived in a residential area which subsequently turned into a containment zone after this, he did not report to work.

The Company has informed the district administration about the employee who has since been hospitalized and his condition is said to stable.

“The Company is providing all medical help and assistance to him as per the rules issued by Government,” a corporation statement read.

Maruti also said that a contact tracing exercise has been undertaken by the company. Out of abundant wariness, all employees who probably could have come in touch with the person who tested positive and has been advised to stay in home isolation.

“There is not any impact on the business operations of the corporate,” the official said.

For ensuring safety against transmission of infection at the workplace and transit, the company has in place a robust and carefully designed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) which matches well beyond compliance requirement.

“We have undertaken a contact tracing exercise and out of abundant caution all employees who possibly could have are available contact is advised to remain in home isolation. The company has in situ a strong and punctiliously designed Standard procedure (SOP) for max safety against infection spread at the workplace and transit, which goes well beyond compliance requirement. In addition, there’s also a COVID-19 Task Force that closely monitors adherence to the SOP within the Company,” the MSIL official said.

“The company has identified other employees who are working on his team. All of them have been asked to stay at home quarantine,” he said.

The company had stated that after the resumption of operations, it had delivered 5,000 vehicles to customers in just a few days.
