According to the affidavit given to the Election Commission in the year 2018 by Jaya Bachchan, wife of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajya Sabha MP from Samajwadi Party, ‘The Bachchan couple has total assets of 1001 crores. Both have a bank balance of Rs 54,60,11,745. Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have invested Rs 102 crore in bonds and shares of companies. Together they have 12 vehicles, which cost around Rs 13 crore.
Apart from this, Amitabh and Jaya have gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 62 crore. At the same time, both have agricultural land worth Rs 11.5 crore and non-agricultural land worth Rs 114.5 crore. Jaya and Amitabh also own a commercial building worth Rs 50 crore. Apart from this, both have residential properties worth Rs 271 crore.
The couple’s assets have increased by over a hundred per cent from 2012. This probably makes Jaya Bachchan the richest Indian MP. She has raced ahead of MP Ravindra Kishore Sinha who declared assets worth Rs 800 crore in 2014.
