Shahid Kapoor is one of the finest actors of the generation and there’s no doubting the fact. He is also an actor who’s never afraid of experimenting with the kind of films and roles he picks. Films like Udta Punjab and Kaminey are proof of the same. However, many might not be aware of the fact but Shahid worked for free in one of his most critically acclaimed films Haider.
Haider is an official adaptation of renowned author Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. While we’ve seen several adaptations of the same across the world, this one definitely stood out from the lot. A report in a leading daily revealed that Shahid ended up liking the script so much that he decided to let go of his fees for the film to reduce production cost and in turn helping the film create a profit after its release. Not only that, Shahid’s director Vishal Bhardwaj too opted for the same keeping the film’s interest in mind.
Shahid made his debut in 2003 with Ishq Vishk and became an overnight sensation. He also won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut (Male) for his efforts in the film.
