I am a little shy about calling myself a star: Bhumi Pednekar

The freshest faces in Bollywood to debut in 2015 one of which was Bhumi Pednekar who is also the daughter of the former home and labour minister of Maharashtra. The actress is known for her roles in ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Shubh Mangal Savdhaan’, ‘Saand Ki Aankh’, ‘Bala’, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ and ‘Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare’. Ms Pednekar initially started off as an assistant to Shanoo Sharma, a casting director who is responsible for the current talents in Bollywood, including Ranveer Singh, Vaani Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor.

In a recent interview, the actress revealed that she was not comfortable with the ‘star tag’, with her exact words being, ‘I think the definition of stardom has changed across different generations. But yes, I am grateful that my films are appreciated and people love me and I am going to continue doing whatever I do on and off screen‘. She also went on to confess how she was still a little shy to call herself a star. Bhumi also makes sure that the movies she stars in message-driven align with the dose of entertainment. She also believes that if someone is spending two hours of their time watching a movie it should lead to some sort of the positive change in their mindset.
