India crosses China’s tally as number of cases goes beyond 85000 marks

Whereas China still stands at 84031 total cases, India has surpassed the number and reached beyond 85000. According to Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Tracker, India now ranks 11th in the world in terms of coronavirus cases with 85,784 with 2,753 deaths.

Currently, there are 53,035 active cases in the country, out of which 30,152 patients have been cured and discharged. India’s worst-hit states include Maharashtra with 29,100 cases, Tamil Nadu at 10,108, Gujarat with 9931 and New Delhi at 8895. Total hotspots are 170. Prime minister is soon going to give out the guidelines for lockdown 4.0.

The US tops the charts with more than 14 lakh cases, followed by Russia, UK, Spain, Italy and Brazil with over 2 lakh cases each; and France, Germany, Turkey and Iran having over 1 lakh cases each.

Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar and Karnataka crossed the 1000-mark. A quarantine centre has been sealed in Manipur. Maharashtra tops the chart with 29100 cases, Tamil Nadu has also passed the 10000 marks. Gujarat is nearing to what Tamil Nadu is facing.

Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan said the way to succeed in this fight is to have a management strategy in red zones.

There will be possibilities of flexibility in lockdown 4.0. Schools, multiplex, cinema halls may remain closed but salons, optical shoos maybe be boosted up. E-retailers may be there for non-essential goods.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the nation on Monday, had said that the lockdown 4.0 will have a “completely different form”, with new rules.

“No state wants complete withdrawal of lockdown but all want gradual resumption of economic activities,” the official said.
