Ivanka Trump appreciates Bihar Girl who cycled 1200km carrying an ailing father

“15 yr old Jyoti Kumari, carried her wounded father to their home village on the back of her bicycle covering 1,200 km over 7 days. This beautiful feat of endurance & love has captured the imagination of the Indian people and the cycling federation!” Ivanka tweeted.

Due to the lockdown and travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jyoti and her father were stuck in Gurugram in Haryana. But the determined class eight girl asked her father to sit on the rear carrier of her cycle and both returned to their native place in Bihar.
Jyoti has covered 1200+km in seven days.

Both the father and daughter bought a cycle with whatever money they had and started on May 10. And reached their village on May 16.
Jyoti’s father Mohan Paswan, drives an autorickshaw in Gurgaon. He was injured. And the lockdown took away his source of income. Above all, he had to return the autorickshaw to the owner. Their only option was to reach their hometown.

This incident has caught the spotlight on Social Media. There has even been talking about whether she can pursue a career in cycling. And as such, the Cycling Federation of India (CFI) will invite Kumari to appear for a trial next month, in what could be a life-changing opportunity. If she passes the trial, she will be a trainee at the state-of-the-art National Cycling Academy at the IGI Stadium complex.

The US President Donald Trump’s daughter and senior White House adviser Ivanka Trump has praised 15-year-old Jyoti Kumari and termed her act as a “beautiful feat of endurance and love”.
