Katrina’s wedding veil paid homage to Vicky’s Punjabi roots, reveals Sabyasachi

Bollywood stars Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal tied the knot on December 9 in a private wedding ceremony at Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan. The couple chose to wear ensembles by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee joining the likes of Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma, and Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh.

Sabyasachi shared the details of the wedding dress designed by him for the couple. Katrina chose to wear a red outfit for the wedding ceremony. The 38-year-old actress was seen wearing a classic Sabyasachi red bridal lehenga that was hand-knitted in Matka silk.

The lehenga featured an intricately embroidered Revival zardozi with fine tile work and a border in velvet fabric. Sabyasachi revealed in his caption for the Instagram post that Katrina’s lehenga also paid tribute to Vicky’s Punjabi roots. The designer custom-trimmed Katrina’s veil in hand-beaten silver with electroplated Kiran in gold. Katrina teamed her lehenga with Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery, which featured hand-tied pearls in 22k gold with uncut diamonds.

Katrina chose a minimal flawless makeup look for the wedding. Celebrity makeup artist Danielle Bauer created a minimal matte makeup look, while hairstylist Amit Thakur created an alluring pose to accentuate Katrina’s bridal beauty. Katrina’s light makeup look can be an up and coming trend for brides. Going for oil-free pigments makes makeup settle down easily and gives a smooth finish and looks natural on camera. The actress let her bright lehenga do the talking and ditched the typical heavy makeup look. A subtle eyeshadow, naturally tinted brows and kohl-laden eyes completed Katrina’s entire pout.

Vicky, 33, was seen donning a subtle ivory silk sherwani, which came with intricate Maori embroidery and handcrafted gold-plated Bengal tiger buttons by Sabyasachi. The actor teamed the sherwani with a silk kurta and churidar trousers. Zari maroon embroidered pallu and bordered tussar georgette shawl are also added to Vicky’s wedding attire. Completing the look of a traditional Indian groom, Vicky also wore a Banarasi silk tissue safa, which he teamed with handcrafted kilangi and Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery statement necklace studded with emeralds, diamonds, quartz and tourmaline in 18k gold.
